Equotation Therapy

about us

What is Occupational Therapy?

Is a question I hear every day. And I hope I can answer it for you:

Occupational therapy is one of the many allied health providers. We work with everyone, but especially physical therapists and speech and language pathologists. OTs provide clients with skills and pathways to get back to what’s really important in their lives: we don’t just want to see you survive. We want to see you thrive!

Occupational therapy practitioners treat individuals from birth through their journey with death. We genuinely care about your choices and outcomes, including assisting you in your return to work, school, or wherever life leads you.

All people are worthy of love and care. I promise to address what is important to my clients.

Unconditionally.

Dr. Tay

Occupational Therapist and long-time outdoorswoman, Dr. Tay blends what the natural world can offer with a passion for research. After finishing two Bachelor’s degrees in Foreign Languages and Classical Studies, she recognized that a life of translation wasn’t everything she had expected and transitioned to volunteering at a horse rescue. That was it. The human/horse bond was made and Dr. Tay changed her focus to helping humans return to their roots and tackle the hard work that daily life demands. She completed the Doctoral Occupational Therapy program at Rocky Mountain College, simultaneously managing two years of the Utah Regional Leadership and Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities Program. She is an ASD Clinical Specialist and has completed all parts of the American Hippotherapy Association Training. Dr. Tay is passionate about education and occasionally teaches as an adjuct professor in the hybrid Occupational Therapy Doctoral Program at the Medical University of South Carolina. degrees

Miss Aubrey

Born in Minnesota, just north of Iowa, Aubrey has an innate desire to connect with animals of all kinds. Her family supported her dreams, funding lessons until she could buy them herself, teaching her the value of gratitude and hard work. After the first lesson, she saved 4H money from selling pigs to buy her first horse at 16. She attends and hosts clinics, lessons, competitions, and works her own business managing lessons and Pony Club to support love of farm work, education, and confidence in young girls. Her barn is a place of open acceptance and sharing information. Miss Aubrey manages the daily barn goings-on and has her hands full with the senior horses who star in our program. She gives these old souls a new lease on life an a purpose as they age in place.

Luca Brasi

Therapy dog extraordinaire and generally considered the best boy and hardest tail wagger. Luca is from the Crow Reservation and shows how clever and talented he is every chance he gets. Luca remarkably young, and yet received an unprecedented complex rating from Pet Partners just after his first birthday. He  loves belly rubs and is an incredible stuffed animal surgeon, removing squeakers and stuffing with laser precision. Luca is continuing to learn how to be the best therapy dog he can and is very grateful for everyone’s patience.

If you are interested in our services, but not interested in canine interactions, please let us know. Our services are provided on a working ranch and there are several dogs on the property, though Luca is the only therapy certified dog currently available.
